Ryan & Faye MacFarlane opened one of Nackawic Shopping Centre's first businesses in 1970. Five decades and three generations of patients later, we are still here, still independent, still delighted when someone walks in with a question.
Over 55 years ago, Ryan and Faye MacFarlane had a simple idea. Take care of people. Know their names. Don't rush them out the door. That was 1970. Not much has changed.
This pharmacy was built on relationships, not transactions. We have watched kids grow up, welcomed new families to town, and been there for the harder moments too, the diagnoses nobody saw coming, the medications that needed to be just right, the days when someone just needed a familiar face and a straight answer. That's what a community pharmacy is supposed to be. That is what we have always tried to be.
A lot of our staff have been here for years. Some for decades. When you come in, you are not starting from scratch every time, we remember you.
We know what it is like to be the new person in a small town. If you have just moved here, or you have just never made it through our doors yet, we want you to know, you are not walking into something exclusive. You are walking into something that just feels that way because people actually care. Come in, introduce yourself. We will take it from there.
Which means we can do things most pharmacies can not, custom medications, custom dosages, formulas for kids and pets and people whose needs do not fit neatly into what is on the shelf. We are proud of that. But honestly? We are more proud of the fact that people trust us with the stuff that really matters.
We are here. We are not going anywhere. And we would love to meet you.
We are a Guardian®-affiliated, pharmacist-owned operation. That means our clinical decisions sit with the people who know you, not a distant head office. Through the Guardian banner we gain national buying power and quality standards. Through McKesson Canada we get reliable, rigorously-sourced supply. And through the Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) in Houston we access the training, equipment, and raw materials to compound medications you cannot find anywhere else in the community.
The goal is not simply to dispense medication. It is to leave every single patient more confident about what they are taking, why, and what to watch for.
Our pharmacists and pharmacy assistants are some of the longest-tenured in New Brunswick, several have been with Ryan's for over twenty years. That continuity is not accidental. We hire people who like people, then we invest in them: compounding certifications, diabetes education, and injection training.

Nackawic and surrounding communities are small by design and mighty by character. We sponsor the hockey team, school sports, charities and other local events and initiatives. Giving back to the community matters.
Every so often we dig through the old boxes. The sign changes, the window displays change, but the people outside the door do not. These snapshots span more than five decades of Ryan's Pharmacy history.

Pharmacy in New Brunswick is continuing to evolve. Our continuously expanding scope means we can treat minor ailments, prescribe for chronic conditions, and manage immunizations that once required a trip to the doctor. We are continuing to invest in providing these clinical services, accessibility, and digital tools that make the basics easier.
